Urbina Rioja 'Selección' 2000
Urbina is a small, family-owned winery making Rioja the traditional way. The 'Selección' bottling is made with the best fruit from the oldest vines (20+ years old). It is aged for a year in oak, followed by at least three years in stainless steel, before being bottled and matured still further. It is a classic, old-school Rioja, and long years in the cellar have mellowed it beautifully. It still has impressive freshness, but now the dark berry fruit flavours are intermingled with earthy, leathery, spicy notes.
