Paris Sigalas is a legendary winemaker on Santorini. The basic Sigalas Assyrtiko is perhaps the island's best-known wine, and some of the top single vineyard bottlings are among the finest. In 2020 Paris sold the Sigalas label, but instead of enjoying a well-earned retirement he has started a new project, Oeno P. This is a new winery built on the site of the original family canava where the original Sigalas venture began. Having done it all with Sigalas, Oeno P is solely about producing the very best of the best. Everything is done with an uncompromising focus on quality. All of Paris' experience and skill is going into the wine, and the results are outstanding.
Akulumbo is Paris's version of Nykteri - a traditional style of Santorini Assyrtiko where the grapes are harvested late. In this case, picking takes place in mid-September, about a month after the regular harvest. The wine is fermented and matured for two years in a 1600l amphora. The result is a very rich, ripe interpretation of Santorini Assyrtiko - a very full-bodied yet balanced white that could only come from this place.
