It is possible to find relatively cheap Barolo from unknown producers, but it's generally a pale imitation of the real thing. A better approach is to pick a great winemaker (like Voerzio) and seek out their Dolcetto - Piedmont's early-drinking red grape. You get quality winemaking, a delicious wine that's ready to drink, and a taste of a great house style at a reasonable price.
Fermentation with ambient yeasts in stainless steel. Aged 10 months in stainless steel before bottling. Unfiltered.
