Vocoret 2018 Chablis Les ParguesRegular price £29
The Eleni & Edouard Vocoret domaine may be only a few vintages old, but already they are regarded as among the foremost artisan producers in Chablis. Les Pargues should have been a Premier Cru, sitting as it does between Montmains and Vosgros and on an identical slope. It is therefore both an anomaly and outstanding value - a wine that belies its 'village' level status. Unlike most modern Chablis, the wine is fermented with wild yeasts and sees some old oak (rather than just stainless steel). It has weight and richness, energy and balance.
So fine and expressive with tight mineral notes and fine spices. Crisp and sharp, but has some depth and texture. Very grainy and mineral.
