The name of the domaine that makes this delicious red is 'Roches Neuves', but on the label is the name of the man behind it - Thierry Germain. Thierry is one of the great artisan winemakers of the Loire. Working biodynamically, he makes a bewildering array of wines from a multitude of vineyards and soil types. This is his 'basic' Saumur Champigny. It's a fresh, flavoursome red with dark fruit flavours peppery spice.
15 hectares of Cabernet Franc vines, with an average age of 25 years. Harvested on the early side to preserve freshness. Aged in round foudres and demi-muids in Thierry's tuffeau cellars, below the winery in Varrains.
|Blend||100% Cabernet Franc|
