Long before Priorat became a famous, highly-prized and expensive wine, the vineyard owners took their grapes to the co-op, where it was simply made and bottled, to wash down the local food. When Domink Huber of Terroir al Limit encountered some old bottles, he found in them something worth reviving. He bought the old co-operative in the village of Torroja, and is now making Terroir Històric there, a consciously easier-drinking, food-friendly wine mostly from Garnacha. This is fascinating, fine, stuff with a distincitve note of passion fruit. It is naturally made, and needs to be decanted a couple of hours before drinking to reveal its true flavour.
