Produttori del Barbaresco's village wine is a benchmark. 'The world's best co-operative winery' controls a good proportion of Barbaresco's prime vineyards. Some they use to make vineyard-specific 'Riserva' wines, but the bulk are skilfully blended to make this - a wine which invariably captures the essence of each vintage. It's perfectly pitched - approachable right from release but with enough fruit, fine tannin and structure to age gracefully for at least ten years. If you wanted one wine to introduce someone to Barbaresco, this would be it.
Barbaresco. Tasted blind. Concentrated ruby. Lots of concentrated, sweet cherry fruit and grainy tannins and plenty of acidity, too. Generous, tannic and long with youthful vigour but can be approached now. Good ageing potential.
