Montevertine are one of Chianti's finest producers, and their most famous wine, Le Pergole Torte, is a modern day classic - a benchmark for the Sangiovese variety and the Chianti region. Slightly easier to get hold of and far more affordable is Pian del Ciampolo - Sangiovese with small amounts of Canaiolo and Colorino. It is aged in Slovenian oak for a year before release and is a gorgeous wine with a savoury edge and beautiful balance. One of our favourite Tuscan reds.
