La Màgia 2017 Rosso di Montalcino
From their old Tuscan estate La Màgia make some very fine wines, including some of the best Brunello you'll taste. Their Rosso di Montalcino is a 'baby' version of that wine, made with Sangiovese grapes from the same vineyards, but aged for only nine months in oak and designed to be approachable much earlier. The result is a superb wine with much of the quality and character of the Brunello for less, and drinking earlier.
Lustrous mid ruby. Lifted cherry fruit with a hint of spice. Super-elegant cherry fruit palate with firm tannins and with just a suggestion of oak. Still needs time to settle but already captivating.
