Koehler-Ruprecht 2011 Kallstadter Saumagen Riesling Auslese Trocken RRegular price £74
Legendary Mount Etna winemaker Frank Cornellisen once told Keeling Andrew & Co., Koehler-Ruprecht's UK importers, "I hate German Riesling, apart from Koehler-Ruprecht Auslese Trocken ‘R’. That’s one of the best white wines in the world." It is truly remarkable - a completely dry wine made from Auslese-level grapes grown in the Saumagen vineyard. Koehler-Ruprecht have been around since the 18th century and practically invented this style. It is golden in colour, rich and full-bodied yet dry. It is hugely complex, and has the potential to improve over years, even decades, in the cellar.
