Julien Sunier has gone from being rising star to firmly established as one of the best producers in Beaujolais. Following in the footsteps of pioneers like his friends Marcel Lapierre and Jean-Paul Thévenet he works organically and biodynamically in the vineyard and naturally in the winery. His Fleurie is from a small plot of old vines on granite soils, and is bottled with minimal sulphur. It's amazingly vibrant, full of crisp, ripe red fruit flavours and with a long, elegant finish.
Beautifully scented with rocky dark-red fruit. Lightly floral but less obvious fruit than the Morgon. Super-supple texture. Finesse and delicacy but long. There’s a seriousness in that non-sweetness and it is so fresh and alive.
