Iliana Malihin Thrapsathiri 2021

At her winery on Crete's Mount Vouvala, Iliana Mahilin makes some of the most exciting wines in Greece. The steep terraces in this area are the site of many historic vineyards planted with native varieties, including some pre-phylloxera Vidiano. The farming is organic and the winemaking highly skilled. The resulting wines are brimming with energy, finely structured and seriously complex.

The Thrapsathiri is a rich, appley white with a creamy texture and a little tannic grip.

Please note: In summer 2022 wildfires devastated the area, destroying 80% of Iliana's vineyards. We do not yet know when or if some of these wines will return.
