Il Paradiso di Manfredi 2011 Trentennale
Regular price £95Il Paradiso di Manfredi make some of the best Brunello di Montalcino you will ever taste. They are a small, family-owned winery working in a decidedly low-tech way and farming a scant 2.5 hectares of Sangiovese wines organically and biodynamically. Fermentation is in concrete tanks and production is tiny - around 9,000 bottles a year in total split between Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino. These are essentially the same wine, the only difference being additional ageing time for the Brunello. In 2011, for reasons nobody can quite understand, the Brunello was not granted its appellation by the authorities and was bottled as IGT 'Trentenalle'. But whether it has the name on the label or not, this is an exceptionally fine expression of Sangiovese and the Brunello appeallation. It has remarkable freshness, combined with great concentration, depth and complexity.
