Envínate are best-known for making some seriously good (and ultra-fashionable) Atlantic wines in the Canary Islands and Ribeira Sacra. But Albahra looks to another sea - and fortunately it's the Mediterranean. The main grape is Garnacha Tintorera (also known as Alicante Bouschet), from three vineyards at 800m altitude. It's a fresh, elegant red with a subtle red berry flavour. If you owned a fashionable wine bar, you'd be selling gallons of this by the glass.
30-50 year old vines at 800m altitude near Almansa Aged for eight months in a mix of concrete (for the Garnacha Tintorera) and used oak barrels (the Moravia Agria). Unfined, unfiltered and bottled with very little sulphur.
