Domaine d'Angerville is best known as a leading biodynamic producer in Volnay, but since 2012 they have been making some stunning wine in the Jura as Domaine du Pélican. Their vineyards include five hectares previously belonging to the legendary Jacques Puffeney (now retired) and everything is farmed biodynamically. The wines were superb - elegant and wonderfully refined - from the start and just keep getting better. Trois Cépages has become their best-known wine, a blend of Pinot Noir, Trousseau and Poulsard. It is Burgundian in its complexity and elegance, with lovely juicy red fruit and a savoury streak.
Light, bright crimson. Juicy and lively with both red and dark-red fruit. Pure and with a light dusting of stoniness. This is a wine that draws you in with its pretty and vibrant fruit and then holds you captive with freshness, super-fine tannins and great length. Charming but not in the least insubstantial. Delicate and intense at the same time. A wine of real beauty.17.5 points
