Dartmoor Whisky Ex-Bordeaux
- 2 in stock
While working at Bruichladdich Distillery on the island of Islay in 2009, Greg Millar came up with the idea of making fine single malt whisky in Devon. Devon's climate and soil are perfect for growing quality barley, the granite geology of Dartmoor is a superb filter for spring water, and the exceptional air quality provide ideal storage conditions during maturation. So why not? With a beautiful 1966 copper still sourced from the Cognac countryside, as well as master distiller Frank McHardy (with fifty years of experience at Springbank and Bushmills) on board, the project took off. Everything is focused on making a whisky of exceptional quality, and it shows. This is some of the most exciting new whisky around, and it's being made right on our doorstep. This whisky is matured in a single cask, previously used for red Bordeaux.
