If you visit Chateau Musar, don't make the mistake of referring to this as their 'second wine'. 'Second wines' are made with fruit that doesn't make the cut for the top wine - whereas this, as anyone at Musar will tell you, is a superior wine in its own right. Made from a single, dedicated vineyard of old, low yielding vines, it shares a lot of the character of Chateau Musar Red, but at a much lower price. All Musar is fairly priced, but this is particularly good value.
From a single vineyard planted over 50 years ago, 1000m above sea level near Aana in the Bekaa Valley. Vines are an average of 30 years old. Ageing periods in French oak barrels, cement vats and bottle. Unfined, unfiltered.
