Calancombe is a new wine producer just down the road from us in South Devon, between Dartmoor and the coast. The site is superb: 23 acres of south-facing slopes with free-draining soils, and the first wines are excellent. The Bacchus is especially appealing, with lots of the hedgerow, elderflower character that is becoming the signature of the variety in this part of the world. Crisp, fresh and full of energy, it's a wine made for the English summer.
Left for 24 hours on skins.
