Argyros 2018 Cuvée Monsignori
Argyros' Cuvée Monsignori is made from ungrafted Assyrtiko vines which are around 200 years old - the oldest on the estate. 95% of the wine is fermented in stainless steel, 5% in large, used oak barrels. It is left on its lees for a year. The balance is superb, with the subtle oak influence adding complexity without overwhelming the fruit. This is one of the finest wines on Santorini from a master winemaker.
Intense citrus and pear fruit on the nose. Plus a wonderful smoky, stony dusty minerality. Amazing purity and intense minerality but still lots of fruit. Both precise and generous and more leesy richness without loss of mineral finesse. Great length. Mouth-watering and pure.
