Vinho Verde is 'green' or 'young' wine from northern Portugal, with the white version being the best known. This superior example is from the Adega de Monção co-operative, based in the best sub-region: Monção & Melgaço. It's a 50-50 blend of Alvarinho and Trajadura, bottled with a little residual CO2 for that slight spritz typical of the style. Good Vinho Verde like this is one of the world's best value everyday wines - undemanding yet delicious, light and refreshing.
