Tetramythos 2019 Retsina Amphore Naturε
Regular price £14Tetramythos' Retsina Amphore Naturε is the polar opposite of the cheap, mass-produced Retsina that has given the wine a bad name. Made with fruit from organic, unirrigated vineyards, it is fermented in clay amphorae and flavoured with pine resin from the trees surrounding the vineyards. The difference between this and their conventional Retsina is the natural approach to winemaking. Hardly any sulphur is used, and the wine is unfined and unfiltered. Retsina has been around for thousands of years, and this is the closest thing you'll get to what it used to taste like - a fascinating, eccentric and utterly authentic wine.
100% Roditis. 450-1,000m on the slopes of Mount Helmos, near Patras. Unirrigated. Fermented in clay amphorae with free-run juice only. Flavoured with a small amount of pine resin, taken from the trees surrounding the vineyard. Very little sulphur added.
