Claudio Fenocchio has always made Barolo the traditional way. Organic farming, long fermentation on the skins and ageing in large, old Slovenian oak casks are all part of his straightforward approach. The wines are classic, old-school examples of the best that Barolo has to offer, with a gorgeous perfume, tangy fruit and fine, well-balanced tannins. The single vineyard 'Bussia' wine is one of the very best.
Monforte d’Alba. Tasted blind. Mid ruby with orange tinges. Lifted and concentrated, but not entirely open. Strawberry and cherry with a peppery edge. Deep and concentrated on the palate. Impressive aromatic build-up on a powerfully tannic finish and yet this possesses great style.
