Lyrarakis are a Cretan winery who have long championed native grape varieties. Their Thrapsathiri has an amazing combination of richness and energy. Sarris are a small winery on Cephalonia, and their Ungrafted Vines of Robola is a new benchmark for the variety. Chloe Chatzivaritis is one of the best young winemakers in the country. Her natural Assyrtiko is fresh, lively and delicious. But Greece isn't just about white wine. In the north, the great grape is Xinomavro, and Dalamara are one of the best producers, making a traditional wine of depth to rival Barolo. Meanwhile, Thymiopoulos is making incredible wines from the Xinomavro variety, and on Mount Olympus his old vines produce one of the most elegant examples - his Rapsani. Chatzivaritis is reviving another neglected grape, Negoska, and her Carbonic wine is bursting with fruit, backed by great structure.
