Even though they do say so themselves, Mas de Daumas Gassac is arguably a 'Grand Cru of the Languedoc'. One of the first truly superior modern wines from the region, it helped establish this part of France as a potential source of serious, ageworthy reds. It's Bordeaux-inspired, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, but with a bewildering variety of other varieties blended in.
