Old, odd and interesting bottles (part 3)

Hello and welcome. We're still here, open and delivering all over the country. A good time to stock up? I've spent the last couple of days adding a whole host of new authentic, interesting, artisan new wines to the website. In the meantime, in this third instalment of oddities, rarities and mature bottles, I'm highlighting a host of things which individually are only available in tiny quantities, but which collectively will hopefully be enough to satisfy all who are curious. It's the best way we've devised to ensure some of our most interesting finds make it on to these virtual pages.

Old Bordeaux

Château Potensac 1985
6 available
An excellent Bordeaux vintage and a solid producer of classically-styled Claret. What red Bordeaux should be all about. New stock!

Château d'Angludet 1986
5 available
One of my favourite Margaux producers, an excellent vintage, and well priced.

Château Pichon Baron 2005 Les Tourelles de Longueville
1 available
A great vintage, a great Château and one of the finest of the second wines. Bottled and lovingly aged under screwcap.

Other Mature Reds

Le Soula 2003 Rouge
4 available
Lovely old Le Soula at less than the price of the current vintage. A Roussillon bargain.

De Thalabert 1999 Crozes Hermitage
2 available
The labels have disintegrated (the one in the photo is in the best condition) but the wine is on song. Meaty, earthy Crozes at full maturity.

Jules Desjourneys 2009 Moulin à Vent
2 available
Possibly now the best producer of serious Beaujolais. This is genuinely the equal of many a far pricier Burgundy.

Catherine & Pierre Breton 2002 Bourgueil Les Perrières
12 available
Mature Cabernet Franc from one of the Loire's best. Wonderfully evolved. A great wine from a seriously underrated appellation.

Emidio Pepe 2001 Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
2 available
One of Italy's greatest artisan red wines. I had a bottle of this two weeks ago and it is wonderful. Multi-faceted, dense, rich and endlessly evolving in the glass.

Rare Whites

Nicolas Joly 2017 Coulée de Serrant
3 available
A legendary wine, Coulée de Serrant is a vineyard with its own appellation entirely owned by Nicolas Joly. A benchmark for dry Chenin Blanc.

Koehler-Ruprecht 2014 Kallstadter Saumagen Riesling Auslese Trocken R
8 available
New release of the rare 'R', a completely dry Auslese held back for years. Stunning stuff once again.

Valentini 2016 Trebbiano d’Abruzzo
1 available
A modern icon of Abruzzo. Valentini is the only producer who can rival Emidio Pepe, and his white wine is arguably better.

Vintage Port - It's the Time of Year

All massively under-appreciated wines still.

Warre's 1997
Quarles Harris 1994
Cockburn's 1985
Warre's 1985
Taylor's 1985
