New allocations of hard-to-find wines

If there's one thing the majority of our wines have in common it's that they are made in small quantities by producers obsessed with quality. They're among the best in their respective regions, but the downside is that in many cases there's not enough to go round. And so we wait for our annual allocations, which can be a mere handful of bottles in the most difficult cases, and are then usually unable to tell you all about them.

But... it just so happens that today we have received confirmation of new wines from three of our favourite names. So although we have hardly any of a single wine, at least in total there should be enough to satisfy at least some of those who want them. They're mostly not on our website, so please just reply to this email with your request and we'll take these in order.

Jules Desjourneys

Fabien Duperray knows all about great wine, being the longstanding Burgundy agent for various stellar names including DRC and Coche-Dury. Then in 2007 he purchased some ancient Gamay vineyards in Fleurie and Moulin-à-Vent and began making his own under the name 'Jules Desjourneys'. In just a few short vintages, Jules Desjourneys has cemented its place at the pinnacle of Beaujolais and Côte Maconnais, producing some of the very finest wines in the region. The latest whites have just been released, and we have tiny quantities of the following:

Beaujolais-Villages Blanc 2018
Macon-Fuisse 'Bois de la Croix' 2018
St-Veran 2018

In a very short space of time, Ben Walgate's Tillingham has become one of the most exciting wine producers in England. The Tillingham farm is set among 70 acres of rolling hills near Rye in East Sussex. The wines are standard-bearers for a slowly emerging natural wine movement in England, and there are a lot of adventurous, limited edition bottlings experimenting with different techniques, fermentation vessels and varieties. Cutting-edge, delicious juice (in no-frills, seriously on-trend packaging) for real natural wine lovers. Again, tiny quantities of:

Endgrain 2020 (white)
Field Blend One (white, 50cl)
Field Blend Two (red, 50cl)
Saw Pit Pinot Meunier (red, 50cl)
Col '19 (sparkling white)

Montevertine are one of Chianti's finest producers, and their most famous wine, Le Pergole Torte, is a modern day classic - a benchmark for the Sangiovese variety and the Chianti region. The whole range though is exceptional. Classic, pure Sangiovese in all its savoury glory. Very tiny quantities of:

Le Pergole Torte 2018
Rosso 2018
Pian del Ciampolo 2018

Send your requests and we'll do our best.
