“If Raveneau made Chablis on a sun-kissed Greek island...”

When Neal Martin of Vinous tasted the 2017 vintage of this wine a couple of years ago, he wrote of it, “the best Greek white that I have ever tasted .... Imagine if Raveneau made Chablis on a sun-kissed Greek island! If that hasn't got you trying to track this gem down, then I don't know what will.” Since then, a few vintages have come and gone in the blink of an eye - it's been almost impossible to keep in stock. Well this time, we're prepared. Today we are offering the new (2021) release of Hatzidakis' Cuvée 15 Santorini Assyrtiko for pre-order. It's due to leave Santorini shortly, and there are only ten cases available for the entire UK. If you're a fan of Santorini, Assyrtiko, Hatzidakis or all three, you'll want to make sure your name is on one of them.

Hatzidakis' Cuvée 15 is made with fruit from ungrafted, organically farmed Assyrtiko vines in Pyrgos and Emporio. Fermentation is with wild yeasts and there is twelve hours of skin contact. The wine is matured on its lees in stainless steel for six months, then bottled unfined and unfiltered. This is artisan Santorini winemaking at its finest. A powerful, full-bodied expression of Assyrtiko that is a masterclass in tension, freshness and balance. A wine for sipping - contemplatively, with food, now or any time in the next ten to fifteen years.
